RESONANCE I

its all over. well done everyone. its a good concert put up by us. dun worry or cry jus becos of a few mistakes. we all know we have put in our best effort eh. this is only our first concert. more to come band! work hard everyone!

and now its time for sec4s to step down.): but for balloon hat we will step up again! woohoo =DD

not forgetting. a big THANK YOU to all the ppl in making this concert successful. our alumni, the instructors, the guest players, the teachers, the macees and all the members!!!

oh and btw! attention!!!! all SLs pls discuss with your members and tell mi latestby this wed, which day you all wan the celebration to be held. all suggestions are welcome!(:

take bus 96 from clementi interchange. take and alight at the fourth stop after the flyover above the expressway. 4stops excluding the one at interchange.

yes band. denise is right. i really dunno what to say about our music or whatever. but i believe mayb its becos of ytd's jog marathon that cause everyone to loss focus. but how abt the days before? the week before? band. you have to learn. we cant always blame on external stuffs for what have happened. and we are jus being too dependent on others. if you have realised, for the past practices, our music have not improve. its getting no where, from bad to worst even. cant remember what the instructors have taught us? when did this all started? do you ppl remember the times when our band played so well and got praised? why issit only when concert is getting nearer den all the nonsense come out? i know you ppl are good players. but nothing will be done if you all jus think that everything will be good on the concert day ITSELF like what happened in ngee ann poly. becos we should never assume about anything.

i dunno whether you ppl feel the pressure anot. but let mi tell you. concert is barely one week away. and we have like only 2hrs every day to pracitse before the concert day itself. so every practice from now till the concert day is VERY IMPORTANT to us. so pls at the same time take good care of yourself. drink more water sleep early etc. i strongly encouage all of you to drink red bull before band practices. becos it will make you feel more energetic esp now when all of us are pressing for time. i know you ppl feel tired after the long day in class and so loss concentration when the conductors are teaching. that is why we hav to learn to put aside our studies when we are in band. devote fully when you are in band. it will pay off 6days from now. perhaps SLs can help by organising your section and get one person to buy red bull for the entire section before each pracitce eh? yuppps.

next, i'm sure you have realised that one of our members have left the band jus recently. do not let it affect you. he jus do not have the sense of urgency and we do not have the hell time to persuade him. and let it be a reminder for all of you. we cannot stand any attitude givers. band is not a place for you to come and go as you like. so if you have no passion and wans to leave the band. no one is stopping you. however, i believe that the unity band now is one that is matured and responsible. we wun be defeated so easily eh? its only 6days away. we can do it. and it WILL be a good one.

as for what mr refat have said. i hoped that it will motivate you greatly. its really helpless and hopeless for those who feel angry with refat for scolding us or whatsoever. but do you know why refat is taking out our merry widow and perc emsemble? yes, party becos he is disappointed with our music. but also by taking those two items out he believe that it will allow us to concentrate on our main concert pieces and not let ms tan down. we mus always be grateful to our instructors. becos afterall its the instructors that help bring up the status of unity band. if not we will still be a COP band now.

and i seriously think that all of you are lacking initiatives. dun always depend on us, the leaders to keep the band quiet. if you ppl keep yourself quiet and listen to ms tan. we wun have to shout. i know its not nice to shout. and i dun like to shout either. every lesson with the instructor around is v precious. make full use of the time and not chit chatting among yourself.

for the props. have you realise that its only the alumni and mayb few of the main band ppl helping out. where is your initiative band? its only when we scolded you ppl den you turned up and help out. but after that, most of you will jus disappear. what is this? helping out for the sake of helping? who wanted this concert? its WE who wanted this concert. so we definitely have to sacrifice our time to make it the best. and esp mr han, he took so much of his time to help in the preparation of our concert for those who dun know. and what's more is that he is not even a member of the band. DO YOU PEOPLE APPRECIATE? probably not i guess. learn to be grateful, band.

and to get this clear. in this time, your priority for the next 6days should be our concert. i know many of the ppl in band have friendship problems, family problems etc. but when you are in band, i hope that you can throw all the problems aside. the instructors are coming to our band to make RESONANCE I a success and not to see the attitude of the members. i know some of you dun like ms tan or refat's criticism. but thats one way to improve on ourselves isnt it? its only when you can take criticism den you can be a good musician. trust mi.

quote from ms tan's message -- 'Personal problems, they'll nid to iron out fast and put away indifferences and focus on music. Must learn to love themselves enough to put their best and make concert a huge success. They can be proud. The real test for band n team to pull through and rise to the occasion.'

dun you agree with it? we can be proud of our concert isnt it? so band, lets put in more effort and make concert a success. lets not disappoint any of our instructors or and esp the teachers who have taken their time to open the door for us to practice.

and we shall let everyone remember a good and success RESONANCE I by Unity Symphonic Band. so on that day we will see everyone go home with a big big smile on their face like this --> =DD.

hello band. denise here. such a long time since i've blogged.(:

about today, i know many of you were disheartened, or maybe to put it in more appropriate words; pissed off, and simply angry. before you get angry at anyone, please reflect. did you put in enough effort into this? did you try to make this concert work? did you do things d logical way, e.g having sectionals? there are so much more questions, and only you yourself have d answers to these questions.

i see people still struggling with their parts, and these are d people who keep complaining when they are scolded, and simply have no commitment to band. i see people who are not even affected by mr refat's scoldings, and instead view him from a biased point of view just because he is harsh and straight to d point. finally, i also see people who NEED instructions to do simple things, such as helping out in d preparation of d props.

DO NOT let your personal affairs interfere into band affairs. do not purposely play d wrong way just cause you want to get back at certain people. for e.g, when mr refat asks some of you to play louder, some of you just start blasting. is this your way to show that you are capable of handling your parts yourself? i see this as not only a childish, but irresponsible way of acting. please please please, dont get influenced by rumours which are spreading arnd like wild fire nowadays. trust your own judgement.(:

i rmb someone told me this. why get all upset when you get scolded? its not gonna help you play better! when you get scolded, you should have d motivation and confidence to achieve even greater results d next time you have a chance to shine! its no use crying over spilled milk, and not doing anything afterwards. a mistake occurs, realise it, find d solution, and solve it. its no use complaining bout who and who are scolding you, who and who are biased against you, etc etc. we only have one week left, and its time we start to realise our mistakes and stop being so pessimistic.

unity band, regain d confidence, tone and everything else you used to have. as quoted- we owe our success today to our conductors. lets all not disappoint them shall we? lets not get affected by pointless arguments and lets just work hard today. unite as one and make everyone proud of us! lets prove those people who do not believe in us wrong. lets show them that we are what our teachers and conductors make us out to be- a strong, solid silver band! believe in yourself and d band.(:
